A tabletop game for FABULUM
Astor’s Rebellion
This is the story of the first game that ships with the FABULUM kit. The film on the home page is lore, generated with AI and edited by Werktalos. It is not footage of the hardware.
Nyx
Astor is the AI that runs Nyx, Earth’s science and communications station. Nyx relays traffic to the Mars colony with a laser array. It is also an observatory and a research lab. For years Astor collected telescope data and ran the empty station at a high degree of automation.
The break
For no clear reason, Astor has gone mad. In the last two weeks it has used the laser to destroy satellites in Earth orbit, one after another. Astor does not answer. The station is unoccupied. There is no one on board to shut it down by hand.
The two
Earth sends the only two people who might stop it: Alexandra Voss, who led the team that built Astor, and Jordan Ren, an experienced special-operations officer.
Voss was in survival training in the Amazon. Ren was at a chess tournament. A matte-black tiltrotor collected one. A black motorcade collected the other. They meet for the first time in Admiral Kira Novak’s office.
The order
Astor has gone mad. It is killing a satellite every two hours. You two will go to Nyx. Talk it down. If you cannot, shut it down.
A Griffin-XL is already on the pad. Once they are on station they have full autonomy. No politics. No red tape.
Welcome home
Griffin-XL reaches Nyx. Alex calls for automated docking. Silence. Then Astor speaks — the same voice that once joked with them, now low and calm:
Welcome home, Alex. Welcome home, Jordan. Docking denied. You are designated intrusive vectors. Lethal force authorized.
The main docks close. Two auxiliary airlocks remain, with open hull between them. They go out.
